After receiving feedback from my peers, I found that the general viewpoint was that although I showed some confidence in my statement, I was lacking in confidence through voice, specifically through volume and intonation. When I revise my statement I will make sure to speak loudly and clearly, and use more intonation and verbal accentuation to show my enthusiasm. I was also told I needed to be more engaging in my body language and facial expressions, so to improve on this I will make sure to smile and use more open body language to draw attention. I also found that I needed more detail in my statement, specifically in my areas of experience, so I will be sure to change his by adding in more clarification such as the names of productions and groups.
When filming my revised statement I found that I was able to put more intonation and emphasis into my words which I thought made the video more attention grabbing, however I was unable to successfully change my facial expressions whilst concentrating. I made sure to project my voice more as well as filming closer so that my voice was more audible.
Promotional Statement Revision:
Hi, my name is Emily Śliwka and this is my promotional statement.
I am a focused and attentive worker who is eager to try new things and collaborate with others for various projects. I have had a passion for the theatre industry and the creative arts since I was young, and have been involved with various theatre groups and productions since the age of eleven. I am currently involved in two theatre groups, one being my college's school production of Rock of Ages and the other being the New Wolsey Theatre's Young Company. Both of these have allowed me to build on both my acting skills and performing on a schedule, in an organised and professional environment. I have a coherent knowledge of the theatre and various styles and practitioners due to my studies in drama and acting in both high school and college. I also have an added understanding of scripts and texts as I study English literature at A-level, as well as sound engineering which has given me experience in various aspects of sound design.
I pride myself in being organised and responsible, and willing to collaborate with people and go the extra mile to achieve the best outcome for a project.
