Task 2 Part A

The 5 stage actors I decided to research were:

Mella Faye:

https://www.mellafaye.co.uk/

https://britishmusiccollection.org.uk/node/64286

https://soundandmusic.org/discover/composer/mella-faye-pecho-mama/

Mella is an actor, musician and director, most well-known for her play Oedipus Electronica, a modern retelling of the Greek myth, in which she plays Jocasta.

She founded and is still a art of the band/theatre company Pecho Mama, which was formed in 2016. Her career spans over 20 years, from when she toured as Mella Faye and the Big Band from 1999-2002.

I found a contact for Mella and emailed her, however as of yet I have not received a reply.

This was the email I sent her:

Hello Mella,

My name is Emily Śliwka. I am a college student currently studying RSL Acting at Suffolk One Sixth Form College.

I have a keen interest in getting into the creative industry and have been conducting some research into careers in stage acting. This involves reaching out to stage actors in the UK from different backgrounds and interviewing them.

I understand you have experience in stage acting, and I was wondering if I would be able to ask you a few short questions about your career path to help with my coursework. The answers do not need to be long, but any extra info would be greatly appreciated.

First of all I will need a list of general information about yourself and your career, followed by a few specific questions.

What is your

- Name (legal and stage, if different)

- Age

- Agent (if you have one)

- First role, current role and any notable career roles or performances

1. How did you get into acting onstage professionally?

2. What inspired you to pursue a career in stage acting?

3. What do you like about acting?

4. What is your training/background in acting?

5. Roughly how much do you earn per month or year as an actor? (If you are comfortable sharing)

6. What aspects of your job do you find difficult and why?

I know that this is a busy industry and that, whilst a reply would be greatly appreciated, you may not have time to answer these questions. This is completely understandable, and I will not be offended if this email does not receive a reply.

Thank you,

Emily Śliwka
