An Audit of Skills 1.1

Core Skills:
 - I studied Drama at GCSE level and received a grade 5. My studies also gave me experience with acting in the style of Stanislavski and working in a group of actors.
- I have experience in both singing and dancing due to taking part in many musical theatre clubs, such as my high school's 2018 production of High School Musical: the Musical, in which I was part of the ensemble, which gave me experience in performing as a group. I also participated in a musical theatre group called SODs for a year, working on two productions: Legally Blonde: the Musical in April 2022, in which I played the role of Enid, and a summer showcase for the company's one hundredth anniversary in September 2022, in which multiple songs from various productions were performed. This helped me to work on my skills in singing and performing as an ensemble.
- I am a very creative person, having had an interest in writing and performing since I was young. I am also part of the New Wolsey Theatre's Young Company, which has helped me to develop both my physical and vocal skills as an actor, as well as further developing my creativity and my ability to work as a team
- I was part of the ensemble in my college's 2023 production of Rock of Ages, helping me to build my skills in singing/harmonising, dancing and acting. I had to rely on mostly body language in the show as I did not have any lines, which helped me to build on my skills in nonverbal acting and body language as I could not rely on speech.
- Another of my skills would be timing, more specifically comedic timing. I have a natural passion and knack for comedy, and have taken part in workshops in Clown and Comedy with the New Wolsey Theatre's Young Company.

Adaptable/transferable skills:
- Communication: many of my college studies require clear communication between both teachers and fellow students, and to be open to different ideas and interpretations. This has been helpful in helping me to be confident and professional around my peers, and given me the ability to se things through a different perspective.
- Collaboration/teamwork: I study Sound Engineering in college, as well as having previously studied Music Technology at GCSE, which have helped to build social skills as it requires me to work alongside other people as a team in order to achieve a goal. It also requires strict commitment to deadlines, which has ensured that I am reliable and can manage my time well. My involvement in the various productions mentioned have also helped me to develop my creativity and be open to new ideas.
- Discipline/concentration: Outside of my studies I am involved in a military cadet programme, which, due to it's strict structure and rules, as well as commitment to improvement and respect, has helped me to build my skills in discipline and concentration, as well as listening and teamwork.
- Analytical skills: in addition to Acting I also study A-Level English Literature, which has provided me with applicable skills in analysing texts and scripts, enabling me to understand them more deeply.
- Versatility: I study Acting in college, and have covered many different theatre practitioners in detail, providing me with experience working in a range of theatrical genres and themes.

KEY AREAS OF STRENGTH:

One of my key areas of strength is rhythm. I am a part of a number of music clubs in school, as well as taking music lessons that have helped me to build on skills to help me keep rhythm.
Another one of my strengths is articulation. I am able to project my voice and enunciate clearly due to having previous theatre experience both inside and outside of school. I also take vocal lessons with a professional, which helps me to further build on my skill, as well as participating in multiple music clubs which has helped me to work on improving my voice.
My studies in drama have also helped me to build on my skills in body language and facial expressions, which I consider another of my key skills. As someone who has performed in an ensemble in many productions, often with little to no lines, I often have had to rely on facial expressions and body language to convey messages and emotions.

Acting/PA Course studied at previous school and Acting experience in school:
I studied Drama at GCSE and received a grade 5. I also took part in our school’s 2018 production of High School Musical: The Musical, in which I played one of the chorus, which gave me experience working in a team as part of an ensemble. I am currently studying RSL Acting in college, which has helped me to further deepen my knowledge of different styles and practitioners. I was also involved in our college production of Rock of Ages, in which I was part of the ensemble.

Acting experience out of school:

I am currently involved in the New Wolsey Theatre’s Young Company.

In the past I was part of Junior SODs (Stowmarket Operatic and Dramatic Society) for just over a year, completing two productions in that time – a production of Legally Blonde: The Musical, and a concert for the organisation’s hundredth anniversary, in which I was part of the ensemble and performed various songs.

Goal 1: Future aspirations and goal:

Stage actor -  I aim to develop my vocal skills, specifically projecting my voice and intonation, to be able to work onstage. I also aim to improve my stage presence by building on my physical skills, such as posture and movement.

Goal 2: Future aspiration and goal:

Voice actor - In order to work as a voice actor, I must build on my vocal skills, as I will not be able to rely on body language when performing. I must work on accents, intonation and diction, to ensure I am speaking clearly, as well as tone and exaggeration.

Goal 3: Future aspiration and goal:

Comedian - I aim to develop my skills in comedic timing and humour, as well as script writing, and vocal skills such as intonation and projection of the voice. I also need to build on my skills in working as a team and improvising.

Acting Experience:

School Productions:

I took part in my high school's 2018 performance of High School Musical: The Musical, in which I was part of the ensemble. I was recently involved in my college's production of Rock of Ages, in which I was a part of the ensemble.

Non-school Productions:

I was a member of the Junior Stowmarket Operatic and Dramatic Society for just over a year, taking part in two productions: a performance of Legally Blonde: The Musical, in which I played Enid, and the society's centennial anniversary concert, in which I was part of the ensemble and performed various musical numbers.

I am also a part of the New Wolsey Theatre's Young Company, which has helped me to develop my skills in comedy, physical skills and creativity, as well as being able to work as a team of actors in order to achieve a certain outcome.

This year I took part in a workshop run by Mella Faye for her play, Oedipus Electronica, which helped to build on my creativity and teamwork with other actors.

School Studies:

I studied Drama at GCSE, receiving a grade 5. I also study RSL Acting in college. These have given me experience in acting in multiple genres, both in a group and alone.
